~Baby It's Cold Outside!~

Woke up to 17 degrees this morning...I know a lot of you have way colder temps. than that, but for here it's COLD! Really hoping we'll see some of the white stuff before too long! I have been trying to clean and get some things organized, but it's a slow go. Decorations are still on the kitchen table that need to be put away, my computer/craft room only has a small path to go through without knocking something over~lol. Hopefully throughout the winter I can purge and organize and have a really clean home by spring! Posting a favorite pic of mine from my Pinterest pinboard~you can find my pinboard here. Was outside cleaning some windows today and took a few pics around the porch and sidewalk. It was middle 90's here today and supposed to stay like this for a couple of weeks. The tall galvanized bucket planter with the rusty bottom came from Nest in Burlington, NC. Autumn and I went there a few weeks ago~loved it! You can visit their blog here. Wanted to post some new pics of my sweet girl~hard to believe she'll be four in a couple of months...it's been a wonderful four years! She's such a clown~says some of the craziest things too~gotta love her! On another note, it's bitterly cold here~high winds~wind chills at or below zero. We have some wintry weather coming in tomorrow night and Thursday and more this coming weekend~I don't mind it, makes it feel more like Christmas! I just took some Snickerdoodle cookies out of the oven and I hear them calling my name~lol. Merry Christmas!

Wanted to post a couple of pics or our "flurries" the weather forecasters were calling for today~lol. It started around noon and it's still snowing...a couple of inches so far. We very seldom get any snow, so when we do it's exciting! I helped Autumn decorate today while Lily ran around all excited shouting "Snow is here!!!" It's wonderful to see it falling~so peaceful and beautiful...makes things so cozy inside too!

Working on a little of this and that today...some stitching, some covered boxes and these...the first ones I've done, but I'm liking them. Already had some Christmas images printed out, so I used them. I plan to do some colonial prints and of course George and Abe. It is terribly hot here today, supposed to be 92~I am so ready for some fall like temps. We're supposed to start cooling down on Sunday~thank goodness! No fall decorating here yet~I'm going to an autumn gathering on Oct. 2nd, so hope to find some goodies there. Wishing you a wonderful autumn weekend!

It is a wonderful rainy day here in NC...it has been terribly hot, humid and dry here...the perfect day to stay inside and clean and create...my kitchen table is full of stitching projects that i've dipped in walnut ink...the washer and dryer are going and I'm getting ready to enjoy yet another cup of coffee...love days like this! I feel like I'm melting as I sit here and post this...Our high today is 98 with a heat index of 102...it's been like this all week. When I get to work, it's hot and when I go home it's hotter. No outside activities going on at all...I am so looking forward to going to the lake this weekend. I'll be the one on the float taking it easy in a cool, refreshing pool...Autumn and Mike are almost through working on the house...they (along with some help from family members) have painted the entryway, living room, dining room and the spare bedroom. The hardwood floors are being redone this week. The kitchen walls should be ready to paint next weekend and then they'll start the move. They are picking out furniture this weekend~that's the fun part! I will take some pics in a few days of the inside~I love it! Stay cool~until next time!

My oldest daughter Autumn and her husband Mike just closed on this house this morning! They are so excited and I'm so happy for them! Lily has lots more room to roam and play. They have been renting a smaller two bedroom house since they got married. This one has 3 bedrooms and lots more living space~a fenced in backyard and lots of charm! Congrats to you both~love ya!!!

We have had wonderful weather this weekend! Highs in the mid 70's and sunny! I had plans to get outside and do some cleaning out, but I didn't get to do much...I was sick for a few days and I'm still having some body aches and pains. Just a couple of pics of two samplers I finished...the peacock design is by Shelly Auen and the alphabet sampler is by Jenny Hoffman. I am home today due to the winter storm we had this past weekend~they are predicting a wintry mix for tonight and tomorrow, so don't know that'll I'll make it to work tomorrow either~good thing my brother is my boss~lol. I plan to at least try to get out of my driveway today and go to the grocery store for a few things. The main road by my house is clear, it's just getting to it. I have lots to do here to keep me busy~may put on some potato soup for supper~perfect for a cold night. Hope you all have a great week!

I have been busy the last few days stitching some spring goodies! I have several stitched, but not finished. I will post some pics later on. I've been trying to do some organizing and get some tax stuff done. I do tax stuff for my brother's shop too, so I'm about to go crazy looking at all the numbers~lol. It's been mild here the last couple of days, but we have a winter storm on the way! Supposed to start Friday evening and continue into Saturday! I know a lot of you are sick of the snow and ready for spring, but I do want to see it snow again! Making a trip to the grocery store tomorrow and stocking up so I don't have to worry about going out this weekend. Autumn had some new pics taken of Lily and I will post those in a couple of days also~she's growing so fast~she'll be three in a couple of months! Time sure does fly! Hope you all have a great week!

Gonna go through my spring charts and get started on them this weekend and maybe some everyday samplers too~I have two in the works, but haven't finished them yet. It is bitterly cold here today and windy too. I have to make a trip to the grocery store and then I plan to stay in this weekend. That's about all I can say...it has been very cold and windy here. Wind chills in the single digits and highs in the 20's~very unusual for us. I went out once yesterday and today~lol. I like cold weather, but I can do without the wind. There is mention of the "s" word for later this week~we still have some of it left from 2 weeks ago! I have got a lot done this weekend though. Organizing and cleaning~some stitching too of course. I've made a list of some things I want to do this year, so maybe that'll keep me motivated. I do enjoy winter days~staying inside and being warm and cozy. There's lots more to do around here, including cleaning out closets~I do want to get rid of some of this clutter and start fresh. I tried to upload more pics, but it's not working...it started snowing yesterday around noon and this is what we have this morning. This pic was taken looking out my front door~we still have a wintry mix and it's expected to continue until this evening~we have around 8 inches or so right now. We haven't had this much snow in years! We may have more on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day~haven't had a white Christmas here in close to 40 years! I have lots of things to do today, which shouldn't be a problem since it doesn't look like I'll be venturing out any time soon...hope you all are safe and staying warm. I am enjoying a cup of Harry and David Christmas Blend coffee. It has butterscotch and caramel flavors~it's wonderful! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Wanted to post a couple of pics of these...the little tree has a snowman theme with hats and snowflakes~my large tree has all kinds of handmade ornaments...some by me~most by others. I didn't have a real tree last year, and it just wasn't the same...I love everything about them, especially the smell. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Our family certainly did~lots of yummy food and spending time with each other~it was really nice. I kept Lily Thanksgiving night~Autumn and Mike had to work on black Friday and my aunt, cousin and his wife were going to hit the sales! My aunt usually keeps her during the week, but she wanted to go shopping, so I kept her~which I totally enjoyed. My daughter and I ventured out on Saturday. We went to the open house at Lisa's shoppe. It was awesome to say the least. So many Christmas goodies! I would post a pic, but I have things scattered here and there trying to get ready for Christmas. I purchased a beeswax frosty hat with a tealight in the top and several more ornaments for my tree including some more beeswax ones...I got my small tree put up today in the entry way~and a few things outside~my brother is taking me next weekend to get my tree~can't wait! Wanted to post a few pics of some things I've finished to list on ebay~all are designs by Jenny of Country Rustic and Shelly of Primitive Stitchin. I think this will be it for me until after Christmas. I have so many things to do around here~although I'll probably sneak in some stitching at night~lol. I'm hoping to get a few things together for a little Christmas giveaway before the end of the coming week~stay tuned...

Tammy and I went to the Christmas open house at Backshed Primitives Saturday...it was awesome! So many Christmas goodies~great music playing in the background, cider and cookies too! If you get a chance, you can visit the picturetrail here. I purchased a few ornaments for my tree and I love them! They all smell wonderful~especially the beeswax. I really like the brown candy canes too. This is only my 2nd year of having a primitive tree, so I'm picking up things here and there to add to it. I have everything I need to prepare my part of the food for Thanksgiving~no more grocery store visits this week, thank goodness! I don't plan on doing any Black Friday shopping either~unless it's online~lol. Three days of work this week and then a four day weekend~I have plans to get some things accomplished, but we'll see. Wanted to post a couple of pics of some things I finished today...designs are by Jenny of Country Rustic Primitives and Shelly of Primitive Stitchin. My pictures aren't the best~thank goodness I'm getting a new camera for Christmas! All of these are filled with sawdust~my first time working with it, and I must say it was an experience~lol. I am so in the Thanksgiving/Christmas spirit. The menu is planned for Thanksgiving~we all chip in and make different dishes and then gather at my aunt's home. There are a couple of primitive open houses I plan to attend the next couple of weekends~can't wait! I also finished a large sampler tonight, but I haven't done any finishing to it yet~it needs to be stained and framed~it is very large, been working on it off and on for the last couple of weeks. I will post a pic when I get it finished. I couldn't wait until after Thanksgiving to play the Christmas music~I hope you enjoy it as much as I do~wishing you all a wonderful week ahead...

As you can see, I've been working on lots of Christmas stitching~the first design is by Shelly Auen of Primitive Stitchin and the other three are by Jenny Hoffman of Country Rustic Primitives. I absolutely love this time of year! I heard The Christmas Song yesterday at work, and my brothers thought I was crazy~I get so excited! I still have several pinkeeps/cupboard hangers I need to finish and I'm working on some other Christmas crafts too. I plan on going through my Christmas decorations this weekend~some of it I'm handing off to my daughters~I've been working on some ornies for my tree and trying to get a few things together for a swap I'm in. Things have been crazy around here today~trying to do so many things at once~makes it hard to accomplish anything~LOL. I am trying to get the house in order and get rid of some stuff. Where does all this stuff come from??? I have managed to get the living room, kitchen and dining room looking nice~steadily working my way through...I've also been trying to craft some in between. I have several cross stitch pieces done, but they need to be framed or sewn. I listed a few on ebay this week, and they all sold so I'm hoping that's a good sign! There's an upcoming winter craft fair at the Farmer's Market in Greensboro that I'm thinking about doing~can't make up my mind though~I really do need to decide! Oh well~hoping you all will have a great weekend~I'm getting ready to watch Criminal Minds~another addiction of mine...I will post some pics of the finished goodes later this weekend!

~Fall Festival~

Tammy and I participated in Reidsville's Fall Festival yesterday...It was a pretty good show, but not as many vendors as last year. Lots of good food and music though. It sprinkled off and on, but no downpours~thank goodness! It was cloudy and cool~really nice day for a show. I am posting a few pics of our tables. Last show this year~I think~lol. Still thinking about one in December, but I'm not sure yet...

Beach Trip~Lily

We took a trip a couple of weeks ago to Myrtle Beach, SC. There were nine of us total~including my aunt Ruth and uncle Arnett, my cousin Jamie and his wife Kristy, Autumn, Mike, Lily, Kailey and me. We had a wonderful time~we stayed five nights and had an awesome condo so that we could all be together. Lily was amazed as you can imagine with the beach~she loved it! This was her first time there, and it was awesome seeing her little eyes light up when she saw it for the first time. It was hot, but with the constant breeze, it wasn't bad. We are hopefully planning more trips in future, we had a great time! A couple of pics of Lily and one with her dad.

I have been working like a crazy person today~putting finishing touches on stuff for the show in September. I still have lots to do, but I am starting to price things and pack them up. I framed these today~the first two are designs by Blair Creek Cabin and the bottom one is a design by Country Rustic Primitives~also finished some ornies for an ornie swap I'm doing~I still have pinkeeps to stuff and finish, pumpkins and witch hats to paint, etc...the list never ends! What a busy summer it's been...working on lots of stuff for upcoming shows, babysitting my Lily bug, lake trips and working too! Getting ready for a beach trip in 2 weeks~can't wait!!! Hello to all of you~it's been a while since i've posted anything, but it's been busy around here. I am trying to stay away from the computer some, but i still have to look around at my favorites~lol. I have several projects going on, none of them finished yet~hopefully i can post some pics in a few days. I have been trying to organize some supplies and fabric too, but not getting very far. I'm trying to get a list together of some fall and winter stuff that i want to do too...Tammy and I are going to be at Notforgotten Farm in Sept. for the primitive gathering~we are so excited!!! Finally posting some pics from Lily's birthday party last Saturday~she turned two this past Monday the 9th. The weather was awesome~around 80 degrees and sunny! Today, it's in the 30's and rainy~never know from one day to the next...she had a great party~lots of people came~she got some really cute stuff! I can't believe she's two already~seems like yesterday she was such a tiny little thing~time flies! My aunt made the little money tree with her name spelled out in dollar bills~i thought it was so cute! Hope you enjoy the pics!

Wanted to share a pic of my 1st fabric covered box. I am working on a blue one too, will post a pic of it later on. I went by the instructions here~an awesome tutorial and the instructions were great! I didn't have any cloves, but I used some antiquing gel. I think it turned out okay~not as hard as I thought. I have several more pieces of fabric and boxes, so I'm gonna make up a few more. I'm getting ready to head to work~will be a short day, but I wanted to make sure the roads would be clear enough for me to get there! I don't like driving on icy roads. Wanted to share a couple of pics of the snow that fell last night! It didn't really start until way after dark, but it was so beautiful falling. Kailey knew before she went to bed that school was cancelled for today~she was excited! She is still sleeping, but she will be so happy to see the snow! We haven't had this much snow in years! I know some of you are really sick of it, but it's a real treat for us! Hope you all are doing well~i have been sick this week, but feel much better now. I have the day off, so i'm gonna try to get some stuff done around the house. Wanted to share with you the goodies I picked up Saturday at Lisa's shoppe. First of all, let me say that her shoppe is amazing! I so enjoyed going there and can't wait to go back again. I got a gathering room sign, a jar lamp, 2 rusty candleholders and 2 battery operated grungy tapers, a prim star mat, heart rug mat, a folky bird, a yard of sage green ticking (love this!) and also a huge bundle of dried spring flowers. She has such wonderful stuff to choose from~Tammy and I walked around and around several times~so much to look at! If you're ever in the area, this is one stop you'll want to make! Hopefully, we'll take some more road trips this year as this one was really fun!

Tonight is the kick off of the Nascar season with the Bud Shootout! I am so excited~love some racing! I have a few folks coming over~we're gonna eat and then watch the shootout! The menu~salmon cakes, pinto beans, potatoes and hush puppies~yum! I have four brothers that are Earnhardt Jr. fans, my mom is a Jeff Gordon fan and I am a Tony Stewart fan~so yes, we have some very interesting times when we all watch racing together~lol. Any other racing fans out there??? Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I have been busy trying to get some spring stuff done the last couple of weeks~I have several things stitched, but they need to be finished. I also want to do some fabric covered paper mache boxes and also some painted and distressed. Does the list ever end??? We had a couple of inches of snow overnight and they are forecating more for this evening! Two nights in a row~very unusual for us...I am at home today due to the icy and snowy roads~Kailey is still snoozing since school is closed today. I plan on cleaning some and maybe finishing up some craft stuff~I hope you all have a glorious day!

All of you have posted so many beautiful pics of your winter wonderlands and this is what I've got~lol. Kinda sad, huh? I was hoping to wake up to a lot more than this, but oh well it is what it is...areas south of us are still getting snow and have around 4-6"...i know that's not a lot to you that measure your snow by feet~lol~but it's a big deal here...anywho~I will be home for the day~school is closed and I have plenty of tax stuff to work on for the detail shop and for myself...stay warm!

I did a swap with Pam, and I wanted to show you the baskets that I received...aren't they awesome??? She has an amazing talent~I love them!!! Also, I have been working on several stitcheries~I still have to stain them and finish them. The first Valentine one is a freebie from Primitive Betty's~the other Valentine ones are from Country Rustic and the bottom two are from Primitive Stitchin. Love them all! I am working on some stuff for spring and everyday right now...the crafters mall where I share a booth with Tammy is gonna close at the end of the month...so sad to see it close~I was planning on taking some Valentine stuff over this week, but I guess my plans have changed...good luck to all of those who are trying to lose weight~i have been trying to eat healthy for about a week now and it's so hard~I am craving sweets something terrible, but haven't gave in yet. I have been eating sugar free pudding, and it helps. I have chicken cooking in the slow cooker for chicken wraps later on. Wishing you all a blessed day!

Is that the correct word for how I feel? The last couple of days have been rough~some family stuff going on and it's really got me upset. I haven't felt like doing anything around here~I had big plans for my days off, but accomplished little. My Christmas stuff is still up, cause I know if I take it down, I'll feel worse. It's so depressing to take it all down~everything looks so bare...Tomorrow is Monday (can you hear me shouting for joy) and I don't want it to be...feel like just staying home in my pjs for a few more days~anywho~I hope the next few days are better than the last couple~I'm praying for that anyway~sorry to be such a downer, but I needed to vent I guess...

Christmas Eve was spent with just my immediate family~Autumn, her husband Mike, April, Kailey and of course Lily! This was a special night for me, cause it's usually spent running here and there, but this year I spent the whole day at home making goodies and relaxing in between. We didn't have a big meal, we decided on appetizer foods~ham and cheese rolls, sausage balls, nachos with beef/cheese dip, cream cheese dip with crackers. Autumn brought chocolate eclair for dessert. We opened gifts after we ate and sat around and talked and laughed~mainly at Lily and her antics. She was so sweet and so excited~she tried to open her presents, but we did help her some. She would pull and tug and if she couldn't get it open, she'd say "help!" and make a face like the one in the pics. We thought it was so funny. Christmas Day was spent at my aunt's. We had vegetable soup and oyster stew (yummy) and desserts. We had our traditional Christmas dinner on the 20th, since my sister was in from Florida and she had to leave back out the next day. Kailey and I ventured out yesterday, cause i needed a few grocery items. I thought places would be really crowded, but they weren't~I was really surprised! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and if you went out looking for bargains, I hope you found some! Blessings!

Just wanted to share some pics from our family outing last night. My aunt Ruth, uncle Arnett, Autumn, Mike, Lily, Kailey and I went to Casville in Caswell County to see the Paschal's light display which has over 1 million lights-you can read about it here. This is something that we try to visit every year, although it's been a couple of years since I've been. It was not real cold last night, so it was the perfect time to take Lily. It was amazing to watch her little face and her eyes light up~she didn't know which direction to go or look in first~lol. Afterwards, we came back to my aunt's house and had homemade bar-b-q sandwiches~YUMMY! We had a great time and it was nice to spend time with family.

Merry Sunday everyone~it's been a busy, busy day here. I've been cleaning, organizing and working on some last minute Christmas crafts. The craft/computer room looks like a cyclone went through it, but it's getting more organized~slowly but surely~lol. Mike, Autumn and Lily came by earlier to pick up some stuff. As my gift to them this Christmas, I've been picking up goodies here and there for them to use in their Christmas decorating. She picked up some ornaments and garland today along with a tree stand. They're going this week to cut their own tree, which I think will be special for them. Kailey went home with her and I'm going over later to have dinner and pick Kailey up. I did want to share a surprise that I gave Mike and Autumn today~I couldn't wait any longer to give them this wonderful little gift. I got this set of personalized blocks from Brenda of My Father's House 4. I absolutely love these! Autumn cried when I gave them to her and so did I~I think they are so special!!! Just wanted to share a pic I took last night~Kailey is my youngest and April is my middle daughter. April lives 45 minutes away, but comes to visit once a week and I usually cook dinner for her. We talk on the phone daily, which is a blessing. It's hard when your kids move out and start lives of their own. She goes to Alamance Community College and when she finishes there, she'll be headed to NC State University~she's working toward a degree in Bio Technology. She also works at ACC in the lab. I'm so thankful for the family that I have~being a single mom has it's struggles, but it also has so many rewards!

It's been a really cold and windy day here in NC. We had a light dusting of snow this morning, which I was really excited about! I do hope we get some snow this year...I guess I'm one of the few people that actually love snow! I have been working on getting my house clean and straight for the holidays. I purchased a german twig tree and I've been working on the branches so I can get the lights on it. I have always had a real tree until this year, so it'll be a change for me. I've accumulated several goodies to decorate it with~I usually decorate in a more traditional way, but this year will be lots more prim! The open house at the crafter's mall was a success~my daughter and I went and she purchased some things for her tree. There were lots of people there, which I'm thankful for with the economy the way it is. I still have some last minute things I want to take and put in my booth and I'm also working on some candy canes and gingerbread men for an order. I am enjoying all the decor and recipes on everyone's blogs~hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Stay warm and cozy!
